Brenna Nelson, M.S. LMFT-A

Adolescent Therapy Specialist at Growing Connections

Hello! I'm Brenna, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with a passion for supporting adolescents as they navigate the dynamic journey of their teenage years.

Using a distinctive blend of art therapy intertwined with evidence-based practices, I tailor each therapeutic session to resonate with the unique essence of each teen I work with.

Understanding Adolescence:

The search for identity, growth, and exploration are hallmarks of the teenage years. It's a time when life can feel exceptionally intense, filled with the joys and challenges of evolving relationships, self-discovery, and sometimes remnants of past experiences.

Art Therapy: The Heart of My Approach

I've witnessed the transformative power of art in therapy. It's a language beyond words, offering teens a distinctive channel to express their feelings and process their experiences. No artistic skills? No worries! Art therapy is about expression, not perfection.

Together, we'll explore and address:

Teen Challenges: Adolescence comes with its own set of hurdles. From self-esteem issues to identity exploration and acceptance, I provide a supportive environment to make these years a tad smoother.

Trauma Healing: Past traumas shouldn't overshadow the present. We'll employ a compassionate approach, assisting you in understanding and healing from past experiences.

Authenticity: Delve into discovering the true self, liberating from societal expectations and patterns that might feel restrictive.

Family Dynamics: Families play a pivotal role during the teen years. We'll strive to enhance communication, mend conflicts, and strengthen the bond within the family.

A Little More About Me:

While my academic achievements, including a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman’s University, lay the foundation for my practice, it's my genuine love for what I do that truly makes a difference. Outside of therapy sessions, you can find me immersed in nature, painting, or cherishing moments with my loved ones.
